Apolo Ohno is not only devastatingly handsome but he’s a really good guy and we’ve got a $25 Subway giveaway!

Congrats to our winner Katherine!

My husband is a runner–he literally plans his every waking moment around when he can get in a run on a daily basis. Running is what keeps him sane– of course I am not a runner-(I know you are NOT surprised right?!)and while I did once take on the Brooklyn Bridge with him (back when we first met and I was willing to do pretty much anything he proposed) after the experience I literally threw up. Another reason why he has never asked me to run alongside him again!

But I have to admit there is something quite passionate about a person who can take on running and make it a part of their lives; it’s a unique and precious ability to push your body to its limits – and to me it seems like an almost spiritual experience (yes it’s true I did indeed begin praying to Gd while trying to run over that Brooklyn Bridge– to give me the strength not to murdalize my then boyfriend (now husband) for “forcing me” to even attempt such a feat (FYI in the 12 years we’ve been together that was the ONE and only time I’ve ever gone running with him.. lesson learned I am not a runner and if we want to stay married he will be running on his own !)

So when Subway invited me to chat up Apolo Ohno about taking on the NYC Marathon (after Jared challenged him to!) I was intrigued– but of course any guy who would devote four years of his life, to a race which lasts four seconds (aka THE OLYMPICS for which he’s won countless gold medals) is a forced to be reckoned with.

And not only is he devastatingly handsome but he’s teamed up with Subway not only to prove he can run the ING NYC Marathon on Sunday, November 6th which is a WHOPPPING 26 miles but he’s dong it for a great charity The Special Olympics. And SUBWAY restaurants and Apolo Ohno have also teamed up with the Special Olympics to make a donation if Apolo finishes the race in less than four hours—$26.2 thousand! For more information check out http://www.crowdrise.com/apolo.

Keep watching ALL these videos I took of Mr. Ohno, Jared and Apolo’s trainer, Todd Rushworth, a strength and conditioning coach whose clients– where Apolo describes what it’s like training for a marathon, his go-to Subway sandwich, his commitment to The Special Olympics, that special someone who will be waiting for him at tomorrow’s finish line- and that as humans we can tackle a lot more than we think we are capable of– oh and did I mention that I am TOTALLY crushing on him now?!

I fuel up with steel-cut oatmeal and almond milk! I need to do this at least 45-60 min before a workout- -any sooner and I risk having your “Brooklyn Bridge incident.” 😉
